X12 136 — Educational Testing and Prospect Request and Report
The testing agency (College Board, ETS) transmits to a school a candidate score and profile data (prospect data).
Purpose
US university recruitment pivot: after the SAT/ACT/GRE, the College Board or ETS sends to target universities (selected by the candidate at registration) the scores plus demographic and academic profile. The university ingests this in its admissions CRM to follow up.
Envelope structure
The 136 travels inside the three X12 envelope levels (ISA/IEA,
GS/GE with functional group TR, and ST/SE).

Common pitfalls
- FERPA: scores and prospect data fall under FERPA. Candidate consent mandatory before sending.
- Score without test year: stale score — always include the
DTMof the test sitting. - Wrong target school code: use the FICE or IPEDS code, not a free-text name.
