PID-3
HL7 v2.x PID-segment field holding patient identifiers.
Definition
PID-3 replaces the legacy PID-2 and holds multiple identifiers separated by ~. Each occurrence is a CX data type: value, Assigning Authority (CX.4) and Identifier Type Code (CX.5, table 0203, e.g. MR for Medical Record Number). It is the pivot field for PIX/PDQ identifier matching.
