X12 997 AK5 is the AK5 segment of the 997 that reports acceptance status of an individual Transaction Set: A (Accept), E (Errors), R (Reject), P (Partial), M (Message Authentication failed).
Definition
AK5 closes the AK2 loop of a 997. AK501 carries the action code (A, E, R, P, M); AK502 to AK506 carry syntactic error codes. It is the syntactic verdict on a received message.
Origin
Specified since the first 997 version (1986). Codes extended in 005010 to align with ASC X12.6.
Use
An 850 message received with two format errors: AK2*850*0001~ (transaction 850 #0001) ... AK5*E*5*8 (Accepted with errors, code 5 = missing data element, code 8 = bad character).
