Definition

The 846 acts as an inventory advice or inquiry: a supplier publishes on-hand quantities by item and location, or a distributor reports its stock. It feeds vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and marketplace availability. Quantity and its qualifier are carried in the QTY segment.
