X12 835 SVC

X12 835 SVC segment, a payment line in the electronic remittance advice (ERA).

Definition

SVC is the first segment of each loop 2110 in an 835. It identifies the service (SVC01 = composite procedure code, e.g. HC:99213), the billed amount (SVC02), the amount actually paid (SVC03) and the unit count (SVC05). Any difference is explained by the following CAS segments.

Defined in TR3 ASC X12N 005010X221A1 (Health Care Claim Payment/Advice), maintained by the ASC X12 Insurance subcommittee (X12N); the HIPAA production version in the United States.
