vLEI
Verifiable digital identity anchored to the LEI.
Definition
The vLEI renders the LEI as a signed, tamper-resistant digital credential. It relies on ACDC (Authentic Chained Data Container) technology and the KERI protocol, with a chain of trust tracing back to GLEIF as the root, letting parties computationally verify the identity, role and authority of a person acting for an entity.
Origin
Standardized by ISO as ISO 17442-3 (published 2024), pioneered by GLEIF; builds on the ACDC and KERI specifications from the Trust over IP (ToIP) Foundation.
Example in context
A signer presents an OOR (Official Organizational Role) vLEI; the verifier validates the ACDC chain up to the entity's LEI in the Global LEI Index.
