VFD
Tanzania's software fiscalisation component, TRA.
Definition
The VFD is an application (web or integrated) that replaces the hardware Electronic Fiscal Device: it obtains Receipt Verification Codes from the TRA, applies a signature and a QR code, and enables public online verification of the receipt. It operates within Tanzania's EFD/EFDMS regime.
Origin
Governed by the Tanzania Revenue Authority under the Income Tax (Electronic Fiscal Devices) Regulations and the Value Added Tax Act, within the EFDMS framework.
Example in context
A service provider issues a receipt via its VFD: the TRA supplies a Receipt Verification Code, and the buyer can check it on the TRA verification portal through the QR code.
