UNZ
Interchange Trailer. The last segment of any EDIFACT interchange, sealing and counting it.
Definition
UNZ is the very last segment of the interchange, paired with the UNB that opens it. Its element 0036 (interchange control count) gives the number of functional groups present, or failing that the number of messages. Element 0020 repeats the UNB's interchange control reference (element 0020) identically, letting the receiver pair header and trailer and detect a truncated interchange.
Origin
Defined by ISO 9735 (UN/EDIFACT Syntax Rules), maintained by ISO/TC 154 and published in UN/CEFACT's UNTDID directory.
Example in context
UNZ+1+5001' — the interchange contains 1 message or group and carries control reference 5001, identical to the UNB's.
