FIN
SWIFTNet's MT message service, store-and-forward.
Definition
FIN routes structured MT messages one by one, with syntax validation by Swift, acknowledgements (ACK/NAK) and storage when the recipient is unavailable. It is Swift's historical service for payments, securities, treasury and trade, progressively complemented by ISO 20022 over InterAct.
Origin
Service defined and operated by Swift, documented in the SWIFTNet FIN Service Description; the MT formats belong to the Swift MT message standard.
Example in context
An MT 940 (account statement) sent by a bank to its corporate customer travels over FIN, with an ACK confirming receipt.
