RMTINF
RmtInf is the <RmtInf> block carrying supplier references or payment purposes in an ISO 20022 message — structured (<Strd>) or unstructured (<Ustrd>).
Definition
<RmtInf> is critical for accounting reconciliation. <Ustrd> holds free text (max 140 characters per occurrence); <Strd> holds structured references: <CdtrRefInf>, <RfrdDocInf>, <RfrdDocAmt>, <InvcrId>, <Tax>. PEPPOL StructuredRemittanceInformation builds on it.
Origin
Introduced in the first ISO 20022 version (2004). The <Strd> granularity makes ISO 20022 superior to SWIFT MT for automation.
Use
To reconcile an invoice, a debtor sends <RmtInf><Strd><CdtrRefInf><Ref>RF18539007547034</Ref></CdtrRefInf></Strd></RmtInf>. The ISO 11649 reference RF18539007547034 lets the creditor match the invoice with no human intervention.
