PRI

Price Details. The EDIFACT segment that states the price of a line — net or gross, with currency, quantity basis and type.

Definition

Per UN/EDIFACT D.96A, PRI is used "to specify price information of an item or service". The segment has one mandatory composite and one optional element:

  • C509 — Price information (mandatory):
    • 5125 — Price qualifier (UNCL 5125): AAA Calculation net, AAB Calculation gross, AAE Information price excluding allowances or charges, including taxes, AAF Information price including allowances or charges, excluding taxes.
    • 5118 — Price amount: numeric value.
    • 5375 — Price type code (UNCL 5375): CT Contract, OF Offer, QT Quote, SP Special price.
    • 5387 — Price type qualifier: SRP Suggested retail, NTP Net, GRP Gross.
    • 5284 — Unit price basis and 6411 — Measure unit qualifier: reference quantity (e.g. 100 PCE).
  • 5213 — Sub-line item price change operation (optional).
  • 5286 — Price change reason code (optional).

Origin

PRI has been in EDIFACT since the first directive; the current structure has been stable since D.93A. In European retail and grocery distribution, PRI AAA expresses the unit net price of a catalogued product; the currency is implicitly set by an upstream CUX.

Example in context

INVOIC line with unit net price and gross list price:

Reading: 24 pieces, unit net price 12.50, gross list price 14.90 per 1 piece. Currency is set by an upstream CUX at the message header.

  • LIN — the product line the price applies to.
  • QTY — the associated quantity.
  • CUX — the price currency.
  • MOA — the line total.
