C1/C2/C3/C4
Roles in the Peppol eDelivery Network four-corner model.
Definition
In the Peppol four-corner model, C1 is the sending organisation (supplier), C2 its Access Point which signs and dispatches the AS4 message, C3 the Access Point that receives it, and C4 the receiving organisation (buyer). C1 and C4 never connect directly; they delegate transport to their respective Access Points.
Origin
Defined by the Peppol eDelivery Network Specifications and the Peppol Transport Infrastructure Agreement, published and maintained by OpenPeppol AISBL.
Example in context
A supplier (C1) sends an invoice to its AP (C2); C2 queries the recipient's SMP, then forwards over AS4 to the receiving AP (C3), which delivers to the buyer (C4).
