Definition

OpenSearch 2.x continues Apache 2.0 development independently of Elastic. AWS manages the project via OpenSearch Foundation (created 2024). Availability: AWS OpenSearch Service (managed), self-hosted, partners (Aiven, Bonsai, Elastic.io). Elasticsearch 7.10 client SDK compatibility. IPv6 extensions, FlightDB for vector workloads. Adopted by Netflix, Adobe, Capital One.
