OPC Classic DA Windows COM/DCOM legacy.

Definition

OPC DA main versions: OPC DA 1.0 (1996), OPC DA 2.0 (1998), OPC DA 3.0 (2003 - latest). Limitations: Windows-only (Microsoft COM/DCOM), no native cryptographic security, complex DCOM troubleshooting (notably cross-domain), no cross-platform interoperability. Migration tools: OPC UA Wrappers, Kepware KEPServerEX, Matrikon FlexConnect. Successor OPC UA since 2008 ; new installations prefer OPC UA.

Origin

OPC DA 1.0 published 1996 ; OPC Classic suite: DA, HDA, A&E ; progressively replaced by OPC UA since 2008.
