Same Day ACH characteristics: (1) Settlement windows: 3 daily 10:30 AM ET, 2:45 PM ET, 4:45 PM ET (added 2021, previously 2 windows). (2) Transaction limit: $1M per transaction (raised from $25K original 2016 launch to $100K 2020 to $1M March 2022). (3) ACH scheme operations: ACH operators Federal Reserve FedACH + The Clearing House EPN process via NACHA Operating Rules. (4) SDA use cases: (a) On-demand payroll (employer disburses salary same day), (b) Urgent insurance claim payouts, (c) Deadline-driven bill payments (last-minute), (d) Account-to-account transfers within-business-day, (e) Urgent B2B vendor payments, (f) Tax payments deadline. (5) Pricing: NACHA Same Day Entry Fee 5.2 cents per transaction (originating Depository Financial Institution ODFI pays to Receiving Depository Financial Institution RDFI as compensation faster processing) + operator transaction fees. (6) Volume: ~1B+ SDA transactions 2023 (~3.5% of total ACH volume), growing rapidly.
