Automotive JIT consumes the EDIFACT DELJIT (Delivery Just-In-Time) message — specifying exact quantity, delivery slot, target bay/dock. Requires an ultra-reliable supply chain and geographic proximity of critical suppliers.
Origin
Central TPS concept from 1950 ; extended to worldwide auto industry by the 1980s.
