ISO/IEC 19757 — international family of XML schema languages that covers RELAX NG (part 2), Schematron (part 3), DTLL (part 5) and NVDL (part 4).

Origin

Published by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34. Part 3 (Schematron) has become the business validation layer of EN 16931, PEPPOL BIS 3.0, XRechnung and Factur-X.

Use

Validating a PEPPOL BIS Billing 3.0 invoice goes through XSD (W3C Schema) for structure, then Schematron (ISO/IEC 19757-3) for business rules.
