ISO 3166-3 uses 4-char format (2-char old code + 2-char successor): YUCS (Yugoslavia → SerbiaMontenegro), SUHH (USSR → Soviet Union dissolved), CSHH (Czechoslovakia → Czech Republic + Slovakia), DDDE (East Germany → Germany).
