UETR
ISO 20022 cross-border payment tracing identifier (CBPR+, gpi).
Definition
The UETR is a version-4 UUID (36 characters) carried in the UETR element of the PmtId block (and echoed in the GrpHdr). Generated by the originating bank, it stays unchanged along the entire route and feeds the gpi Tracker. Its use is mandatory in CBPR+ pacs messages.
Origin
Format defined by RFC 4122 (UUID v4); usage mandated by SWIFT's CBPR+ Usage Guidelines and the SWIFT gpi rulebook (gpi programme, 2018).
