PmtRtr

Root of the ISO 20022 pacs.004 message, interbank payment return.

Definition

PmtRtr is the root block of pacs.004. It carries the original reference (OrgnlGrpInf, OrgnlUETR) and a TxInf with a RtrRsnInf holding the return reason code (AC04, BE05, AM05…). It is an R-transaction: the agents are reversed relative to the original payment.

Origin

Defined in the ISO 20022 Message Definition Report for pacs.004 (ISO TC 68/SC 9), maintained by the Registration Management Group; profiled by CBPR+ and the EPC SEPA Rulebook.

Example in context

<PmtRtr><GrpHdr>…</GrpHdr><TxInf><OrgnlUETR>1a2b…7890</OrgnlUETR><RtrRsnInf><Rsn><Cd>BE05</Cd></Rsn></RtrRsnInf></TxInf></PmtRtr>

  • FIToFIPmtStsRpt — pacs.002, rejection before settlement (vs return after).
  • UETR — echoed in OrgnlUETR to link to the original payment.
