INVRPT

UN/EDIFACT inventory reporting message, a cornerstone of collaborative replenishment (VMI/CRP).

Definition

INVRPT conveys the stock situation (quantities on hand, in transit, available, planned) for a product identified by GTIN at a given location. It is the key input that lets the supplier compute replenishment under a VMI or CRP model.

Origin

A message type of the UN/EDIFACT United Nations Standard Messages (UNSM), published in the UNTDID (United Nations Trade Data Interchange Directory) and maintained by UN/CEFACT.

Example in context

UNH+1+INVRPT:D:01B:UN:EAN005' then BGM+35::9+REF001+9' — header declaring an inventory report under the EAN/GS1 subset.

  • VMI — INVRPT feeds the supplier-side replenishment calculation.
  • GTIN — product identifier carried in the LIN segment.
  • QTY segment — carries the reported stock quantities.
