Major evolution: 1980 containerisation introduction, 1990 EDI digitisation, 2000 sea vs other transport distinction, 2010 added DAP/DAT and merged CFR/CPT, 2020 (current edition) replaces DAT with DPU. Incoterms 2030 planned to integrate eBL, blockchain, carbon emissions tracking. Always mandatory to reference used edition in contract.
