Definition

Major evolution: 1980 containerisation introduction, 1990 EDI digitisation, 2000 sea vs other transport distinction, 2010 added DAP/DAT and merged CFR/CPT, 2020 (current edition) replaces DAT with DPU. Incoterms 2030 planned to integrate eBL, blockchain, carbon emissions tracking. Always mandatory to reference used edition in contract.

First ICC Incoterms rules published 1936 by International Chamber of Commerce in Paris ; revised ~every 10 years.
