Definition

Besu features: EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) execution, Web3 JSON-RPC API, Ethereum 2.0 Beacon Chain support, public and private networks. Consensus: Public (PoS Ethereum 2.0), Private (Clique PoA, IBFT 2.0 Istanbul BFT, QBFT). Privacy: Tessera private transaction manager for group privacy, Orion (deprecated). Adoption: Brave/MetaMask backend infrastructure, ConsenSys Quorum (Besu rebrand), Société Générale Forge (CMTA tokenized bonds platform), Onyx by JPMorgan.

Besu (formerly Pantheon) contributed by PegaSys/ConsenSys August 2019 ; integrated Hyperledger ecosystem ; ConsenSys Quorum rebrand 2020 (formerly JPMorgan Quorum based on Geth).

Example in context
