Definition

Aries main components: Aries Cloud Agent Python (ACA-Py, most used), Aries Framework JavaScript (used by Trinsic, Veramo), Aries Framework Go, Aries Mobile Agent React Native, Aries Framework Java/Kotlin. Protocols: DIDComm v1/v2 messaging, Connection protocols, Credential Exchange v1.0/v2.0, Present Proof v1.0/v2.0, BBS+ Signatures. Standard: OpenID4VC progressively adopted. Migration to community-maintained protocols since Hyperledger graduation transitions 2024.

Hyperledger Aries launched by Hyperledger Foundation May 2019 ; Aries Cloud Agent Python (ACA-Py) contributed by BC Gov Canada ; transitions to OpenID Foundation community-maintained 2024.
