MSH-9

HL7 v2 field of the MSH message header segment, clinical messaging.

Definition

MSH-9 is a CM/MSG-typed field whose first component is the message code (HL7 table 0076, e.g. ADT, ORU), the second the trigger event code (HL7 table 0003, e.g. A01), and the third the expected message structure. This field drives message routing and parsing.

Defined in Chapter 2 (Control) of the HL7 Version 2.x Messaging Standard, published by Health Level Seven International (HL7).
