HL7 v2 control field, request/response correlation.
Definition
MSH-10 holds an identifier the sending application assigns to uniquely identify the message. The receiving system echoes it back in the MSA-2 field of the message acknowledgment (MSA) segment, allowing the response to be correlated with the original message.

Defined in Chapter 2 (Control) of the HL7 Version 2.x Messaging Standard, published by Health Level Seven International (HL7).
