GS1-GTIN-14

14-digit shipping unit identifier.

Definition

GTIN-14: 1 digit packaging level (1-8 for cases, 9 for variable quantity) + 12 digits GTIN base + 1 check digit. Widely used in ITF-14 (case) and GS1-128 (pallet). AI 01 in GS1 codification.

Origin

Standardised by GS1 in 1990 ; harmonised with UPC in 2005 (Sunrise 2005).
