GIAI — Global Individual Asset Identifier, GS1 key that identifies a non-tradable individual asset (machine, equipment, container) throughout its life.

Origin

Published by GS1 in the GS1 General Specifications. Encoded in Application Identifier (8004) in GS1-128 or in GS1 EPC.

Use

A factory tags its injection moulds with a GIAI; EDIFACT INVRPT inventory reports or IIoT flows carry this GIAI to track usage per batch.
