Matrix 2D barcode that carries several GS1 Application Identifiers.
Definition
GS1 DataMatrix is a variant of the Data Matrix ECC 200 symbology in which the first function character FNC1 denotes a GS1 format. It encodes one or more AI + data pairs (GTIN, batch, date, serial) in a very small footprint.
Origin
The Data Matrix symbology is standardised by ISO/IEC 16022; its GS1 usage (FNC1 and Application Identifiers) is defined in the GS1 General Specifications.
