GS06 element of the GS header, X12 group control numbers.
Definition
GS06 (Group Control Number) is a 1- to 9-position numeric assigned by the sender and unique within an interchange. GE02 repeats the same value to close the functional group; this number is also the one a 997 functional acknowledgement cites in AK1/AK2 to bind the acknowledgement to the originating group.
