GLEIF
Central authority of the Global LEI System.
Definition
Established in 2014 in Basel by the Financial Stability Board, GLEIF accredits LOUs, safeguards data quality and provides the Global LEI Index — the consolidated reference database of every issued LEI — free of charge. GLEIF does not itself issue LEIs.
Origin
Founded by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in 2014, under the supervision of the LEI Regulatory Oversight Committee (ROC); operates the registry of identifiers defined by ISO 17442.
