Definition
FpML 5.x covers the structured description of a derivative (Trade, Party, NotionalAmount, FixedLeg, FloatingLeg, Termination), its lifecycle (Confirmation, Increase, Amendment, Termination), and connectivity to TRs (Depositary Trust & Clearing Corporation). Heavily used in CFTC/EMIR clearing.
Origin
Created by J.P. Morgan in 1999, transferred to ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) in 2001. Current version 5.x.
