FIX 4.4 version dominant in trading production.

Definition

FIX 4.4 adds support for multi-currency settlement, complex orders (multileg), allocation processing, registration instructions, news messaging, position management and user-defined fields. tag=value format separated by SOH (0x01). Compatible with TCP socket via FIX session layer (Logon, Heartbeat, ResendRequest, Logout).

Origin

FIX Protocol Limited (became FIX Trading Community 2012), version 4.4 published 2003 succeeding 4.3 (2002).

Usage

Standard for ~70%+ of FIX flows in production. Prime brokers (Goldman, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, UBS) historically support 4.2/4.3/4.4.
