FIATA-FCT
FIATA FCT non-negotiable transport certificate.
Definition
FIATA FCT specifications: non-negotiable (NOT transferable by endorsement, distinct from negotiable FBL), simply confirming that freight forwarder has received goods for shipment, without property title. Distinctive colour: yellow. Used in transactions where: (1) consignee is known and named on FCT, (2) bank accepts FCT as transport document in LoC (less common than FBL), (3) operational urgency or FCT issued quickly, (4) point-to-point shipment without transshipment. Differs from FBL: FCT non-negotiable + simpler liability, FBL negotiable + UNCTAD/ICC Rules liability. FIATA encourages FCT use for appropriate scenarios. Paper format + electronic eFCT planned 2024-2025.
Origin
FIATA FCT published 1955 by FIATA, first standard FIATA document ; ~10M FCTs issued/year 2024 ; planned digital eFCT 2024-2025.
