ETA e-Receipt
Egypt's real-time B2C receipt reporting system.
Definition
Each POS device must be registered by its serial number, linked to the taxpayer's registration number and branch, and issued integration client secrets. Every B2C sale produces an e-receipt — fewer mandatory fields than an e-invoice — transmitted in real time to the ETA and carrying a QR code for buyer verification.
Origin
Established by the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) Electronic Receipt System (ERS), with technical specifications on the ETA developer portal (sdk.invoicing.eta.gov.eg); the B2C mandate was phased in from 2024–2025.
Example in context
A retail till signs a receipt JSON with the registered device's credentials and POSTs it to the ETA e-receipt API; the returned QR code is printed for the customer.
