ELU
Electrical Usage. The EDIFACT segment that describes the electrical usage and characteristics of an equipment.
Definition
The ELU (Electrical Usage) segment declares the electrical characteristics of an equipment: voltage, frequency, current, power. It is used mainly in EDIFACT messages in the energy and container-transport domains to describe equipment power needs (for example a reefer container).
Origin
ELU is defined by UN/CEFACT in the UNTDID. It was added for the reefer-container logistics chain where electrical-supply characteristics drive plug-in at the dock and on board the vessel.
Example in context
ELU+440:V+60:HZ+25:A'
Here, 440:V gives nominal voltage, 60:HZ frequency, 25:A current — typical reefer-container parameters.
