UNOA / UNOB / UNOC
Values of EDIFACT element 0001 "Syntax identifier", defined by ISO 9735.
Definition
Each code names a permitted subset of characters: UNOA is the most restricted level (uppercase A–Z, digits and a few signs); UNOB adds lowercase and further characters; UNOC covers the Latin-1 set (ISO/IEC 8859-1) with accented letters. The chosen code is carried by element 0001 of the S001 composite in the UNB segment.
Origin
The service repertoires are defined in ISO 9735 (UN/EDIFACT Application level syntax rules); the extended sets UNOC onward reference the ISO/IEC 8859 parts.
Example in context
UNB+UNOA:2+... → UNOA repertoire (uppercase only).
UNB+UNOC:3+... → UNOC repertoire (Latin-1, accents allowed).
