EBES
European Board for EDI Standardisation. See official source.
Definition
European Board for EDI Standardisation — European committee active from 1987 to 1999, predecessor of CEN/ISSS and the body that drove EDIFACT adoption in Europe.
Origin
EBES was created in 1987 under the joint sponsorship of CEN, CENELEC and ETSI. Its Message Implementation Guides (MIG) underpinned many European sector profiles. EBES was wound down in 1999 and its work transferred to CEN/ISSS.
Use
MIG inherited from EBES still feed certain EDIFACT profiles for European retail and banking today.
