CXML-SENDER

cXML Sender is the <Sender> element of the cXML <Header> that identifies the emitter application — distinct from the commercial <From> party.

Definition

The <Sender> identifies the system (e.g. SAP Ariba Buyer 9R1) that technically generated the message; its <Credential> with <SharedSecret> authenticates the dispatch to the receiver. Conceptually it is the HTTP-client layer, while <From> is the commercial entity.

Origin

Present since cXML 1.0. The <Sender>/<From> distinction lets an intermediary (Ariba Network) emit messages on behalf of a buyer.

Use

Ariba Network acts as the <Sender> (NetworkId AribaNetwork) on orders routed from a buyer (<From>) to a supplier (<To>). This indirection lets a supplier maintain a single SharedSecret for all buyers hosted on the network.
