CPS
Packing-sequence segment, the backbone of the DESADV/RECADV.
Definition
CPS structures a shipment into nested levels (consignment, pallet, package) using a sequence number and a parent number. It introduces the segment group holding PAC, PCI, GIN and then the LIN lines, so every article can be tied to its physical container.
Origin
Defined in the UN/EDIFACT DESADV Message Implementation Guideline (UNTDID, maintained by UN/CEFACT), the United Nations trade data directory.
Example in context
<CPS+1'> opens sequence 1; <CPS+2+1'> declares sub-sequence 2 attached to parent 1 (a carton inside a pallet).
