Definition

CIM-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision) is the WHO reference version for diagnosis coding. Maintained by WHO since 1990 and used in France by ATIH for PMSI. 3- to 5-character codes (E11.9 = Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications).

Origin

Adopted by the World Health Assembly in 1990. Annual updates. Successor ICD-11 came into force January 1, 2022.
