CFDI-MX
CFDI — Mexico e-invoice. See official source.
Definition
CFDI — Comprobante Fiscal Digital por Internet, mandatory XML e-invoice format in Mexico since 2014, governed by SAT (Servicio de Administración Tributaria).
Origin
Launched in 2011 (CFD), generalised in 2014 (CFDI 3.2), current version CFDI 4.0 since 2022. Every CFDI document is stamped by a PAC (Proveedor Autorizado de Certificación) and then archived by SAT.
Use
To invoice a Mexican customer, the ERP system issues a CFDI XML, sends it to the PAC which returns a stamping UUID (timbre fiscal digital). The stamped CFDI is then sent to the customer.
