Adoption: Netflix uses multi-CDN strategy, ESPN multi-CDN, Adobe Creative Cloud. Reduces single-CDN dependency risk, optimises performance-cost.

Multi-CDN routing concept emerged ~2010 with Cedexis (founded 2009 by Marty Kagan and Pete Mastin) ; Citrix 2018, IBM 2018 (NS1) acquisitions ; continued market 2024.
