CDI

Conditions of Delivery and Information. The EDIFACT segment that qualifies delivery and information conditions.

Definition

The CDI (Conditions of Delivery and Information) segment carries a specific delivery-related condition: condition code (UNCL 4495), parameter value. It complements TOD (Terms Of Delivery) and FTX (Free Text) with structured rather than descriptive conditions.

Origin

CDI is defined by UN/CEFACT in the UNTDID. It is used alongside the Incoterms carried by TOD to specify complementary delivery or tracking-information conditions.

Example in context

CDI+1:DEL+24H'

Here, 1 codes the condition type (Delivery), DEL states the sub-category, 24H gives the parameter value (delivery within 24 hours).

  • IMD — structured description of a product or service.
  • FTX — free-text segment for conditions that cannot be coded.
  • UNTDID — the UN/CEFACT repository.
