SML
eDelivery central-directory building block, OASIS BDXR SML profile.
Definition
The SML maintains the DNS that underpins discovery: a participant identifier is hashed (SHA-256, base32) and turned into a domain name. DNS resolution returns the address of the responsible SMP. There is a single SML per eDelivery domain (e.g. edelivery.tech.ec.europa.eu for PEPPOL).
Origin
Specified by OASIS Service Metadata Locator (BDX-Location) from the OASIS Business Document Exchange (BDXR) Technical Committee; implemented as the SML/BDMSL component of the Digital Europe Programme.
Example in context
B-<hash>.iso6523-actorid-upis.edelivery.tech.ec.europa.eu → CNAME/NAPTR record pointing to the participant's SMP.
