Bangladesh NBR VAT framework: Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act 2012 effective July 2019 (after multiple delays), VAT 15% standard, truncated 5% (transport, etc.), 7.5% (motor garage), 10% (hotel, AC restaurant). EFD (Electronic Fiscal Device): NBR-certified POS hardware connected real-time to NBR EFD server, phased obligation for 25 retailer sectors (jewelers, hotels, restaurants, gold, etc.). ESDC (Electronic Sales Data Controller): software-based alternative for modern ERPs. Monthly VAT Return Form 9.1 submission via NBR Online VAT Portal (https://vat.gov.bd/). NBR comprises 4 wings: Customs Wing, Income Tax Wing, VAT Wing, Research & Statistics Wing.
