W3C XML Activity publications cles : XML 1.0 (1998, 5th Edition 2008), XML 1.1 (2006, mainly Unicode update), XML Schema (XSD) 1.0 (2001), XML Schema 1.1 (2012), XPath 1.0 (1999), XPath 2.0 / 3.0 (2014), XSLT 1.0/2.0/3.0, XQuery 1.0 (2007), Namespaces in XML (1999), XML Inclusions (XInclude), XLink, XPointer, XML Signature (2002), XML Encryption (2002), XML Catalogs (OASIS). XML status : mature standard, slight decline in favour JSON for APIs, persistent dans EDI, document publishing, governance, healthcare (HL7, etc.).

Origine

W3C fonde octobre 1994 par Tim Berners-Lee au MIT ; XML Working Group cree 1996 ; XML 1.0 publie 10 fevrier 1998 ; W3C XML Activity continue avec sub-groups specifiques.

Exemple en contexte

Le standard UBL 2.4 OASIS utilise XML 1.0 schema 1.1, XSD, XPath 2.0 dans ses ~85 document types ; PEPPOL e-invoicing repose entierement sur cette stack W3C XML.
