MT756 — Advice of Reimbursement or Payment
Notification of a completed reimbursement — the reimbursing bank signals to the issuing bank that it has honored the MT742 claim from the negotiating bank. Closes the UCP 600 + URR 725 cycle on interbank LC reimbursements.
Purpose
MT756 informs the issuing bank that an effective reimbursement has happened: the reimbursing bank (mandated by MT740) has paid the negotiating bank which claimed via MT742. Allows the issuing bank to reconcile its commitment accounting (revolving facility) with effective fund outflows. Without MT756, the issuing bank doesn't know whether the MT740 authorization has effectively been "consumed".

- :21: empty or wrong: must point at the :20: of MT742 — otherwise issuing bank fails to reconcile.
- :32A: different from MT742: if paid amount differs, immediate dispute from negotiating bank (underpayment).
- No MT756 = ambiguity: some issuing banks consider MT900 / MT910 (debit/credit confirmation) as sufficient. URR 725 requires explicit MT756.
- Confusion MT756 vs MT754: MT754 = advice of payment by negotiating bank; MT756 = advice of reimbursement by reimbursing bank (next step).
