MT747 — Amendment to an Authorisation to Reimburse
Modification of a previously issued bank reimbursement authorization (MT740). Typical cases: validity extension, amount increase following LC amendment (MT707), change of claiming bank following transfer (MT720). Governed by ICC URR 725.
Purpose
MT747 adjusts the parameters of a pre-authorized interbank reimbursement. Three main reasons:
- Validity extension: MT740 expiry pushed (LC extended by MT707).
- Amount increase/decrease: MT707 changed underlying LC amount.
- Claiming bank change: original negotiating bank transferred the LC (MT720); MT747 designates the new authorized claiming bank.

- No MT747 when MT707 changes LC amount: classic oversight — without MT747 amending corresponding MT740, the negotiating bank cannot claim the increased amount.
